Gone Home: A Short & Beautiful Journey.

This post is full of SPOILERS for Gone Home. If you just want my verdict read the Last Para.

I recently started clearing out some of the backlog that I have built in my PS4 library. I started off by finishing of Tales from the borderlands & Walking Dead: Michone just to get some bling in my trophy cabinet. Then I had planned to start Life is Strange for another easy platinum trophy but before starting it I looked at gone home's trophy guide which said everything could be done in 40 minutes, and I was sold.
I had no idea what the game was actually about I thought it must be a cheap horror title with bad graphics and cheap scares, but how wrong was I. Trust me I am glad that I was wrong as what it actually was, was just so damn beautiful and actually a treat to go through, I played it once for the trophy for 10 minute playthrough but then I came back to listen to all of the Journals spread throughout the house of our Protagonist: Katie, who has came back home to her home to find it empty, by her younger sister: Sam. Who tells her stories through her journal. She perfectly narrates her journey of moving to a new place, adjusting or rather not adjusting well at her new school, and more importantly falling in Love with another girl, coming out to her parents, and finally running away with her girlfriend Lonnie.
It all makes up for an interesting story told and a solid narrative that lasts just about the length of an TV show episode i.e. 25 minutes, but better gamers and those with an eye for detail will find that it has a lot more to offer as to there is another story within the game about Katie's parents who are having their own struggles with marriage and coming to terms with their daughter's sexuality. They are not available like the audiologs that are Sam's journal but are more embedded in the game but I am simply not the one to look for them.
At the end I would say I was glad that my trophy hunting mind brought me to Gone Home as it was more than I expected, had a story to remember, nice moody soundtrack, and I would just recommend it to everyone who already has it in their Library via PS Plus or just looking for a good game without all the killing and world ending stuff to go play it. I think what makes it stand out is that there among all the games with saving the world, destroying stuff, Gone Home is a breath of fresh air that tells a meaningful story.
