5 Versions of Thor other than Marvel's Thor

At present when we speak of Thor, Marvel's pretty boy superhero Thor generally comes to mind. Well that is kind of natural as due to the huge popularity and presence of the Marvel Cinematic Universe they have kind of made the Norse God their own property. People often forget or don't know to begin with that Thor is originally a Mythical character present in the Norse Mythology.

In the Norse Folklore just like the MCU he is the God of Thunder, wields a hammer-Mjolinir, is son of Odin, as well as Step brother of Mr. Mischief-Loki. Unlike the MCU he is not a Superhero who teams up with Ironman & Co. He is a a God that holds a great place in the Norse Mythology. Also he is a red head!

Since he is a part of Myths that have been in existence for centuries, Marvel cannot claim to own the character & for this reason he has been able to be part of all of the pop culture. Thor has been present in Video Games, TV shows, & even Anime in versions other than the one that is Marvel's. In fact I was introduced to Thor through Persona 3 on my PSP rather than the MCU. 

Now here are just 5 different versions of Thor that you can find across different media other than Marvel's Thor, though if you searched I am sure their could be dozens more:

1. Persona Series: This is one epic RPG game series, that was first available in 1996 on the original PlayStation, though Thor only made his first appearance in Persona 3, while he has been present in sequels 4 & 5 since than. In Persona games the protagonist call on their inner alter ego or more like spirit animals to fight for them, these spirit animals are referred to as personas & Thor is one of the persona that the protagonist can call upon to fight on his/her behalf.

2. Age of Mythology: In this strategy game the player gets to select a mythology & god to follow throughout the game. This choice gives various benefits, powers, etc. depending on the God chosen. One of the choices here is Thor as he is not just a super hero but an actual god. The game is pretty great & if nothing else will give you some knowledge of the Norse mythology. Though there are other mythologies & gods to choose from too.

3. Saint Seiya: In this anime series Thor is a God Warrior. Here Thor actually dies in battle while battling the main protagonist Seiya & his pals in Asgard. Talk about getting beaten on the home turf. Though  to be fair to Thor he beats Seiya pretty badly at first almost killing him & would have won had it not been for outside interference.

4. Gauntlet: This game was released in 1985 on arcades & yes it looks pretty bad now but it was a huge success on launch. This is a top down third person hack & slash dungeon crawler where one of the four playable characters was... you guessed it Thor. There was no story or anything just levels after levels of enemies to kill.

5. Supernatural: Well in one of the best TV shows still in 2017 with 12 seasons having countless stories involving every known myth to mankind. Sooner or later Thor was bound to have his presence felt in Supernatural & that is all you get in Supernatural though as Thor is mentioned various time during the show but only his famous hammer gets to make an appearance on the show. It is still awesome to see Sam Winchester wielding Mjolinir.
