Ronaldo and Neymar: Knowing When to Let Legends Go

Image
The Hardest Decision in Football: Knowing When to Let Legends Go There are very few moments in football that genuinely hurt as a fan. For me, one of them came before Euro 2008 when Spain manager Luis Aragonés announced his squad and left out my favourite striker growing up, Raúl González. Raúl wasn't just another player. He was Spain's captain, the country's all-time leading scorer at the time, and the face of Spanish football. As a supporter, I was devastated. I thought Aragonés had made a terrible mistake. Then Spain won the tournament. Looking back, I realized something that has stayed with me ever since: international football isn't about rewarding the greatest careers. It's about selecting the team that gives you the best chance of winning today. That lesson came rushing back to me while watching Portugal and Brazil exit the 2026 World Cup. This isn't about disrespecting two all-time greats. Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar have given their countries unforgetta...

Madrid’s Craters: How Poor Planning, Broken Leadership, and Ancelotti’s Limits Derailed a Superteam

Real Madrid vs Barcelona – Copa del Rey Final Preview: A Broken Giant Faces the Mirror Real Madrid face Barcelona for the Copa del Rey final tomorrow, heading into the match deservedly as underdogs. This season for the Los Blancos was supposed to be all-conquering—they added the supposedly best player in the world in *Kylian Mbappé*, and the narrative was set: dominance, trophies, a statement era. But the reality? Far from it. They’ve already been embarrassed out of the Champions League by an underachieving Arsenal side, a defeat made worse by the fact that it was fully deserved. Arsenal didn't just knock them out—they outplayed them. Declan Rice channeled prime Beckham, scoring two bangers from free kicks and dominating midfield. But that wasn’t the only blemish on Madrid’s campaign. The biggest? They’ve twice lost to Barcelona this season, being outscored 9-2 across the two fixtures. The criticism is pouring in—and rightly so. The manager has been called out for his lack of tacti...

Real Madrid: From Treble Talk to Total Collapse?

Image
Real Madrid: From Treble Talk to Total Collapse? What started as a campaign full of promise is now spiraling toward disappointment. From talk of a treble to teetering on the brink of a trophyless season, Real Madrid are in free fall, and the 3–0 first-leg demolition by Arsenal might be the clearest sign yet that the foundation is crumbling. The time for excuses is over—it’s now or never, and unless something drastic changes, this season will be remembered as a wasted opportunity. --- Vinícius Jr.: All Flash, No Finish Vinícius Jr. was supposed to be the engine of Madrid’s attack—but lately, he's become its biggest frustration. His decision-making has been poor, he’s missed crucial penalties that cost matches, and his flashy solo attempts often kill off momentum rather than creating chances. His infamous “I will do it 10x. They are not ready” has become a meme, mocking a player who's talked far more than he's delivered. --- Right-Back: The Glaring Weak Spot With Dani Carvaja...

The Heartbreak Kings of Europe: Real Madrid!

Image
Title: The Kings of Heartbreak: 10 Brutal Champions League Nightmares Inflicted by Real Madrid Few teams in football history have embodied the phrase "inevitable" quite like Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Over the last decade, they have shattered dreams, crushed fairytales, and rewritten their own dynasty at the cost of many hopeful challengers. The Merengues have denied legends their crowning moments, stunned rising superpowers, and broken the spirits of those who dared to dream of European glory. As Peter Drury famously called them after Real Madrid’s miraculous comeback against Manchester City in 2022: “Real Madrid the team of drams” But in football, one team’s dreams often becomes another’s nightmare. Here are ten of the most brutal heartbreaks inflicted by Real Madrid, in chronological order: 1. Atletico Madrid’s Eternal Agony (2014 Final) Diego Simeone’s Atletico were moments away from a historic Champions League triumph, leading 1-0 deep into stoppage t...

Post Clasico: What Real Madrid fans should be thankful for.

Image
I am writing this literally hours after thumping defeat at the hands of Barcelona, who really got more than they deserved but they did deserve the three points. Just not with a 3-0 scoreline. This is not a match analysis, there are far too many better people to do that. This post is more to get over the defeat than anything else.  As this result might have knocked the wind out of most of us(Real Madrid) fans, but it should not be enough to ruin the historic year that we have had, in which we won a historic 5 trophies . Yes things are not how they should be, especially with the awesome Super Cup wins, our La Liga & Champions League performances have been kind of mediocre.  The thing is even in the clasico we were better for most parts of the first half, in second we woke up too late after getting down to 10 men and it was too little too late, but this team is great, the midfield is one of the best of all time, the defence & attack are solid, if anything they...

The Best a.k.a Cristiano Ronaldo 2016-17: The best of 'Big Moments'

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo just won the 'Fifa Best' award yesterday after scoring his least number of goals in a La Liga season i.e. one worse than his debut season with 'just' 25 goals, made his lowest no. of appearances in a La Liga season at just 29 matches, had just two goals in the champions league uptill the quaterfinals, & despite that he was the undisputed best of the 2016-17 season. The Best With Zinedine Zidane resting the Portugese legend on quite a few occations at the tail end of last season, he was in prime condition for the 'Big Matches', & boy oh boy did he performed in those matches. He was an absolute monster in the latter stages of the Champions League scoring a mind boggling, record breaking, & unparalleled 10 goals in the knockout rounds of the greatest club football competition. Man did he turn up for matches against Atletico, Bayern, & Juventus. It all started against the mighty Bayern at the Alianz Arena where the most pla...

5 of Liverpool's best performance's against Manchester United over the last Decade

Image
Ever since that fateful night in Istanbul in May 2005 when Liverpool made the greatest comeback in Champions League history on the biggest occasion possible: The Champions League Final, they have not managed to rise to the heavy-hitting nametag of a European giant that carry around with them. Over the last decade or so they have been more often found languishing in a battle for the top four or worse, rather than challenging for the title in England, & have not been in the knockout stage of the Champions League since 2008-09 Season. That is definitely not a rosy picture for Liverpool.  While their great rivals Manchester United themselves have hit some turbulence over the last few seasons after Legendary Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013, but to just say they have fared better than their arch rivals would be an understatement. They have won more trophies during the last season, where they were supposedly rebuilding , than Liverpool over the last decade! Amazing, right? I...

Cristiano Ronaldo V/s Lionel Messi

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo V/s Lionel Messi European golden boy vs Latin American prodigy Bad boy vs Baby face Arrogant Prick vs Innocent Shit Business man vs Tax Fraudster National Hero vs National Coward Its a debate no matter how you put it in the headlines will be never ending, both guys are definitely legends of modern football and have defined this era of football. They are locked in a rivalry that makes both of them do unrealistic things on the football pitch all the time. Thousands of people have written about their never ending rivalry over the last decade, millions have their opinions heard in countless polls, everyday football fans have their debates on this topic, now let me shoot my opinion on why Cristiano Ronaldo is the definitely the better player, the better guy, & more importantly the better role model (despite his arrogant image). Lets start with matters on pitch: On the pitch with Messi & Ronaldo, I like to draw parallels of their rivalry with anot...

Time for AC Milan & Carlo Ancelotti to get back together?

Image
On   23 May 2007 at the  Olympic Stadium ,  Athens , Greece, AC Milan were at the top of the European Club football that was more than ten years ago, when Carlo Ancelotti and his Milan side  lead by Kaka   exorcised  their demons by defeating Liverpool in second time of asking after so astonishingly losing to them in the 2005 Final blowing away what looked like an insurmountable 3-0 lead.  Anyway in 2007 they were the best again and Ancelotti & Milan looked like a match made in heaven until Chelsea came calling for Ancelotti, and eventually Kaka left to fulfill his dream to play for Madrid and Milan kept on declining year on year so much so that now Champions league qualification seems like a big task for them. Ancelotti meanwhile has kept on filling his trophy cabinet with Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, & Bayern Munich but he has rarely looked at home like he did at MIlan for more then one season. He has become what i...
