Batman: No Kill Rule.

Image
Batman operates with a code, a code that does not in any circumstance justify killing. His decision not to be the executioner that many desire he become has now often lead to super-villains like Bane and the Joker to break out of prison and indulge in mass murdering people. After witnessing Joker setting off a nuke in the 'Injustice' storyline, killing Jason Todd in a 'Death in the family', & crippling Barbara Gordon in 'A Killing Joke', I too have questioned Batman's ways and if his 'No Killing Rule' makes any sense at all. The simple truth is that this self imposed limitation that he would not, despite self-admittedly wanting to, kill anyone is what makes his character that more hero & standout as a pinnacle of Justice. Even when it would be personally gratifying to him, he does not cross that line. That makes him more of a superhero than others. This only shows that he has not been corrupted by the power that he has, it is too easy for ...

Bangalore Comic Con: First time at a comic con! (Details & Pictures)

Image
Last week I was visiting my brother in Bangalore, originally we had planed to leave for Coorg on the weekend but after looking at the current events happening in Bangalore and finding out that Comic Con was also the same weekend, I asked him to delay the trip for a day so I can attend the Comic Con for a day. Welcome! This was my first visit to any Comic Con, and what had me a bit concerned was the fact that I was going alone, and generally atleast where I live it is considered crazy to go anywhere alone, people even want to visit the washrooms in groups! Anyway encouraged by my hippie-solo-travelling-ComicConVeteran-buddy Lakshay(find him on Instgram@ seeking_shambhala ), I decided to go and check it out. It was kind of awesome but not for the reasons I expected. First of all what was great was the crowd, volunteers, cosplayers, panelists, and generally everyone involved. Everyone that I came across was just happy, & enjoying themselves. I guess all of us geeks are more or l...

9 Ultimate Moments in Justice League that were a Joy to watch

Image
"Oh, how the mighty have fallen" Well, who would have thought that Justice League, DC comic's answer to the Avengers will make less money than the universally beloved Wonder Woman standalone movie. To my infinite disappointment it is the ugly truth. Now that even the most loyal DC fans are turning on the studio, directors, writers, and each other, what is being lost is an ultimately flawed but enjoyable movie that is Justice League. Between being directed by Zack Snyder & Joss Whedon, and made by a studio devoid of confidence in the product, Justice League finds itself in shambles, after two weekends it is about to make 500 million dollars worldwide, but that number is nowhere near what everyone would have expected and ultimately Justice League will be the highest grossing box office disaster till date.  Leaving the bad box office, messy story, & messier mustaches aside, ever so hopeful that WB & DC will rise above this I have made this list to re...

Justice League Movie Review: Joy Ride (Spolier free)

Image
Now for a spoiler free review: Justice League is a fun movie that does all of it's members Justice. While the Superman's mustache CGI looks ugly, you can get over it. Movie doesn't have any mind blowing plot twist or heavy character moments in general but it is a fast paced ride filled with joy and hope unlike BvS. There are quite a few funny moments and action is on point. Whenever I get out of a movie without ever being bothered to look at my phone once, it generally counts as a win for me. Here Batman is the badass we know and love, Wonder Woman is as graceful and charming as she has been in her previous two appearances in the DCEU, out of the new entrants I expected Jason Mamoa's Aquaman to shine the brightest but Erza Miller's Flash is the breakout star for me. He was super funny but due to the ever so present slo-mo action that has been a staple in DCEU, Superman is the one that gets the best slow motion moment rather than the Scarlet Speedster. Talking ...

Opinion: How to make shit hit the fan?

Image
I don't know much about politics, current events, economy, or most of the stuff happening around me in general. I don't know who is the president of India at the moment but I know who is the president of DC Comics: Diane Nelson, Real Madrid: Florentino Perez,Warner Brothers: Kevin Tsujihara, Sony: Kazuo Hirai, etc. That is because I don't care much for the politicians, economy, & most of the stuff happening around me, but I do like to know about the people making the things that I enjoy happen. Last night maybe the only friend that I have who genuinely cares about what is happening with people around us, & the country in general asked me this question:  "How can he get his voice heard? How can he reach a wide audience?" The thing is that he is not the most popular guy, he doesn't have a reach on the social media, he is not a very good looking guy, he is not even a funny guy, so what is he? he is just a normal guy like me. So the problem is th...

Does it have to be Marvel vs DC? YES!

Image
If you take a look at the little 'about me' widget located on the sidebar of this blog, you will read me announcing that I am a DC fan, so does it automatically mean I absolutely hate Marvel and anything Marvel related, HELL NO! I absolutely love Spiderman, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four, Deadpool to name a few Marvel characters. I use to watch almost all of their movies till about the Avengers came out, then I started skipping almost all of the MCU movies until Homecoming came out, cuz gots to watch Spidey! In between I also saw all  the X-Men movies including Deadpool. I am talking about going to the Movie theater at this point as I have seen almost all of the MCU movies at some point or the other with the exception of Thor 2 and Dr. Strange. So what gives why can't we all just take the high road and love all the great characters, stop being fanboys, stop trolling or debating on the Internet and just enjoying the great age of comic book movies in peace. Wel...

Some love for Superman: The Original Superhero.

Image
If you have a look at the current position of DC comics and the content that it is putting out be it Comic books, animated movies, TV shows, video games, or whatever else they are making you would believe  that it is basically a brand of Batman & Others, while the recent Wonder Woman movie ( that is by the way first movie ever for a 75 year old character ) has given some of long due spotlight to her, the fact remains that in last decade DC Comics has become so focused on The Dark Knight that the Superhero that started it all in Action Comic #1 in June 1938  i.e. Superman  has been forced to take a backseat. It is not just that publishers are doing it on purpose why would they want one of their very few truly great characters to suffer? Fans  (haters?) are too responsible for shifting the focus off superman as they regularly moan, complain, & criticize dear old Supes.  So let me quash some of the criticism  that is being thrown towards Superman and...
